Curried eggs, this brought back memories, my Mum I think still makes them and they're everyone's favourite. Probably similar recipe and also passed down from Nana. And probably also in the CWA (Country Women's Association - Australia) cookbook which I just saw was from 1937!
I imagine it was a similar recipe! When I asked my mum for details on the recipe she called them ‘à la Gran!’. I’m chuckling about the CWA cookbook being dated 1937 - but also, how cook is that! Have you got a copy?
I don’t have a copy but my Mum still has hers, well stained and well used. I imagine it may have even been my Nana’s original copy since she was the only daughter. It has a lot of recipes I’m sure you’d be familiar with like mock chicken and pumpkin scones! There would have of course been a massive amount of British influence in the recipes since so much of the Aussie settlers at that time were 10 pound poms.
I always love your informative. Articles Rose. You’ve inspired me to make some curried eggs. We’ve also preserved our beetroot. A great compliment along with salad. All the best for your up coming workshops.
Sorry to hear about your friend Penny.
